MobiShell consists of two functional modules – server and client.

The infrastructure of the information system is established with server module made as an Online Web Application in ASP.NET 2 standard.

The client module of the system establishes the data structure on the customer’s mobile device in the form of easy-to-use menu.

The total time of GPRS usage for a customer based upon the amount of the information read that is not weary for eyes does not exceed 10 minutes per month.

Server end

The server end consists of the following modules:

• Information system structure management module.
• Information system content management module.
• Multi-user access to information system management module. Includes various roles, types and levels of access. Different categories and channels can be assigned to each type of access.
• System of information integration from RSS sources of the third parties. The information can be automatically updated from RSS sources with the specified time interval.
• The system of transferring information to mobile device upon user’s request. The server end works under MS Windows 2003. As the working database Oracle DBMS (any version) or MS SQL 2003, 2005, 2005 Express (MS SQL Express DBMS is delivered by Microsoft Corporation free of charge and allows creating information systems up to 4 GB)  can be used.

In case of large number of customers to distribute traffic and improve reliability of MobiShell system operation server mirroring is supported.

The client

The client includes the following modules:

• Module of information receipt to mobile device of the customer (via WAP or GPRS services)
• Module of flexible menu structure generation displaying information structure.
• Module of displaying the received information on the mobile device screen.
• Module of the client settings:
  • Number of information units downloaded at a time;
  • Information actuality;
  • Color schemes and themes of the client;
  • Font size;
  • Offline work.

The client works on any J2ME compatible mobile device. Currently, they make up 97% of the total number of mobile phones in the world.

The size of the client doesn’t exceed 70 kb.

The client can have any name and logo. For example, in case of the GMJ project  the the client carries the name “GMJ News”.
